IDR is seeking a Mainframe Programmer to join one of our top clients for an opportunity in Austin, Texas. This role involves working within a legacy mainframe environment, focusing on IBM programming, application maintenance, and system analysis for a private sector organization. The position offers the chance to work on critical mainframe systems with minimal supervision.
Position Overview for the Mainframe Programmer:
- Performs advanced computer programming in an IMS/application mainframe environment
- Oversees programming projects, analyzes applications, and designs software solutions
- Works independently with considerable initiative and judgment
- Utilizes knowledge of modern programming languages to translate batch code in new languages
- Presents research findings in business terms and diagrams flow for batch programs
Requirements for the Mainframe Programmer:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent related work experience
- 5+ years of detailed knowledge of developing and maintaining IMS/application mainframe applications
- 5+ years of CICS/BMS experience
- 5+ years of experience in COBOL, CICS, JCL, REXX, ISPF, File-Aid, or similar products
- 3+ years of experience with File Aid, Expediter, JCL, IMS, and VSAM
