IDR is seeking a Software Engineer III to join one of our top clients for an opportunity in Los Angeles, California. This role focuses on building and evolving content-creation tooling and workflows for an innovative R&D initiative, partnering closely with artists, designers, and engineers. You’ll help translate emerging technologies into practical tools that improve iteration speed, quality, and creative efficiency.
Position Overview for the Software Engineer III:
- Design, develop, and maintain artist- and designer-facing tools that support modern content creation workflows
- Partner with cross-disciplinary stakeholders to gather requirements, propose solutions, and deliver usable features
- Provide technical leadership through design reviews, implementation guidance, and setting quality standards
- Contribute hands-on to a shared codebase, emphasizing maintainability, performance, and reliability
- Mentor and support other engineers, helping elevate team practices and outcomes
Requirements for the Software Engineer III:
- 6+ years of professional game development experience, including meaningful contributions to shipped titles
- 3+ years building tools for cross-disciplinary teams (artists/designers/engineers) with strong stakeholder collaboration skills
- Professional experience developing tools in Unreal Engine (UE4 or UE5)
- Experience creating extensions or pipelines for modern digital content creation tools (e.g., Maya, Photoshop)
- Proficiency with modern cross-platform UI/tooling frameworks (e.g., Qt, Electron, or web-based frameworks such as React) and solid knowledge of software design patterns
